Baptism

WHAT IS BAPTISM?

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Mathew 28, 19-20

The Sacrament of Baptism is the first of the Seven Sacraments. It is the gateway to life in the Spirit and the door, which gives us access to the other sacraments.

In Baptism, we are cleansed of original sin and are reborn as sons and daughters of God. We become heirs to the Kingdom of Heaven!

It is through this Sacrament of Baptism that God places His very life inside us, which we call “grace.”We become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church, made sharers in her mission and finally, we are marked with the indelible “seal” of Baptism.

INTERESTING IN HAVING YOURSELF OR YOUR CHILD BAPTIZED?

There is much more we could say about this great Sacrament, but that’s why we have Baptism classes available for parents and godparents.  In these classes, we explore the various realities of Baptism: what it is, what it does, what responsibilities are accepted by parents and godparents, and what Baptism means to the Catholic Church!

BAPTISM CLASSES

Baptism classes are available by appointment. Both parents and godparents will benefit with their attendance.  Please call the parish office at (813) 681-9115 for an appointment, or send us an email at [email protected] and we will contact you about our Baptism classes.
